Editorial Code of Conduct

Our Commitment to Integrity, Fairness, Transparency, and Trust

At Firecrown Media Inc. (“Firecrown”), journalism is more than just content — it’s a public service. Our goal is to inform, inspire, and protect the independence, integrity, credibility, honesty and reliability of the company and its work. This Editorial Code of Conduct outlines the values and standards that guide our newsroom, and what our audience can expect from us.
We believe that great journalism is built on trust — and trust is earned through transparency, fairness, and ethical decision-making.

1. Editorial Values We Live By

Truth & Accuracy
Firecrown journalists must take responsibility for the accuracy of their work and verify information before releasing it. Our journalists will not knowingly or recklessly disseminate false or misleading information. Firecrown journalists will diligently seek to contact individuals and companies that are the subject of stories to give them the chance to comment.

Fairness & Balance
We strive to report on all sides of a story with impartiality and respect. We do not sensationalize. If our reporting covers allegations or controversies, we give subjects a meaningful opportunity to respond.

Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions are made independently of business, political, or personal interests. Our
editorial team is kept separate from our advertising/sponsorship teams to ensure editorial
integrity.

2. Accuracy, Corrections & Attribution

Fact-Checking Standards
Our team is trained to verify names, dates, statistics, quotes, and other factual claims using credible, independent sources. We distinguish clearly between fact, analysis, and opinion.

Corrections Policy
If we make a material factual mistake, we fix it. Corrections are issued as soon as possible and are clearly labeled. We never “quietly update” significant errors or omissions.

Attribution
We respect intellectual property. All sourced information, quotes, and data are clearly attributed to the original source, and we do not tolerate plagiarism or misrepresentation of others’ work.

3. Conflicts of Interest

Personal & Financial Conflicts
Our editorial team must avoid covering stories where they have a personal, financial, or familial connection that could bias their reporting. If unavoidable, those conflicts are disclosed clearly. Firecrown journalists should avoid any personal interests that might conflict with the interests of Firecrown and the stories the write about. Any potential conflict of interest must be immediately disclosed to the editorial manager.

Gifts & Incentives
Our journalists do not accept gifts, trips, or perks from sources or companies, sources, clients or vendors. Our integrity is not for sale, and even the appearance of impropriety undermines the public’s trust. Our journalists are not allowed to accept gifts without the express written approval of the editorial manager. Sponsorship & Advertising Sponsored content is always clearly marked. Advertisers and sponsors do not influence our editorial content or decisions.

4. Protecting Sources & Confidentiality

Anonymity & Safety
We protect the identity of sources when disclosure could result in harm, retaliation, or legal consequences. When anonymity is granted, it is done with strict editorial oversight and only when necessary.

Source Verification
We make every effort to corroborate claims made by anonymous or confidential sources with independent evidence or additional sourcing. Notwithstanding, providing information is Firecrown’s priority, and sourcing every line of a story is not necessary.

Firecrown sees context as imperative when considering attribution. Firecrown wants to eliminate unnecessary attribution, but the source should be clear to the reader. We do not need to source the lead if the information comes from the principal party to the news and the context makes this clear.

When Firecrown quotes an individual or report, attribution is necessary. The very nature of highlighting the specific words used to convey a thought or information requires attribution. In all cases, Firecrown journalists must have good sources in their notes. Firecrown has procedures in place to evaluate the status, credibility, and legitimacy of sources.

Secure Communication
We use secure tools and channels when necessary to protect sensitive communications with whistleblowers, informants, or vulnerable sources.

5. Editorial Team Responsibilities

Training & Accountability
All editorial staff undergo regular training on journalistic ethics, fact-checking, bias awareness, and source protection. We foster a culture of continuous learning and accountability. Internal Review If concerns arise about ethical breaches or controversial editorial decisions, we initiate an internal review and communicate the outcome to relevant stakeholders, including the public if appropriate.

6. Impartiality

Our journalists will maintain a sense of fairness, balance, and impartiality in their reporting and will not favor one individual or party over another. We will constantly strive to maintain and expand contacts with as many sources as possible. Any manipulation, intimidation, bribery or bullying attempts are reported by our staff to editorial managers.

7. Social Media & Public Engagement

Professionalism Online
Our team members use social media to share stories and engage with the public. Personal opinions expressed online must not compromise the perceived impartiality or professionalism of Firecrown.

Corrections & Engagement
We welcome respectful feedback and fact-checking from our audience. When errors or new information are brought to our attention, we address them promptly and transparently.

8. Reader Trust & Feedback

We welcome your input — it helps us stay sharp, accountable, and aligned with our mission. If you have concerns about our reporting, corrections, or conduct, please contact us at: editorial@firecrown.com

Closing Note
At Firecrown we believe journalism should serve the public good — not powerful interests, not algorithms, and not personal egos. We’re committed to earning and maintaining your trust every day. We invite you to hold us to this standard — and to hold every newsroom accountable to theirs.
